Never think that skin wrinkles occur automatically.  Several factors contribute to your skin getting wrinkled.  Those who do not drink adequate quantities of water, people who stay continuously in sun without any sunscreen protection, persons leading unhealthy lifestyles, those who lose sleep regularly, people under emotional stress, smokers, binge eaters etc are the ones whose skin is damaged prematurely.  Age is a definite factor in the formation of wrinkles, but a good lifestyle coupled with the use of a proper wrinkle cream can set the clock back to a great extent.

Even though there are several wrinkles creams available now, you need to examine the ingredients of each of them before buying one.  A good wrinkle cream would always contain antioxidants, defoliants, skin growth stimulants and sunscreen.  Retinol and tretinoin are two known anti-oxidants that contain vitamin A, but the compounds are unsuited for pregnant ladies since they may cause birth defects.  Exfoliants like hydroxy acids eliminates dead skin and stimulates the growth of evenly pigmented smooth skin, but can increase the risk of sun damage.

Another common ingredient, the Coenzyme Q10, is proved to be very effective in smoothening out wrinkles around the eye and an effective shield against damage from ultraviolet rays.  Copper peptides enhance healing process of skin wounds and kinetin, which is a natural plant growth factor, irons out wrinkles without any marked side-effects.  It also helps in retaining skin moisturizer and is a very powerful antioxidant.  Tea extracts, which is a world-renowned antioxidant and anti-inflammation agent, is found invariably in most wrinkle creams.

But no wrinkle cream can save you if you lead an unhealthy lifestyle, smokes or fail to protect your skin from sun while going out.  These are the major factors that contribute towards the early advent of skin wrinkles.

Careful selection of a wrinkle cream that suits your skin is the first step towards that silken smooth skin texture that you always wanted.  Always follow the instructions given on the container in letter and spirit.  If any doubts arise about the effectiveness and after-effects of a cream, you should immediately revert to your dermatologist.
